About

Prasara yoga is a new style of yoga, the "3rd Evolution of Yoga." It combines elements of traditional asana, or poses, along with elements of movement, or flow. Most modern forms of yoga concentrate on one of two aspects: asana, the actual poses, or vinyasa, transitional breathing between poses. Prasara yoga integrates both of those aspects, and expresses them through dynamic movement.

I was first introduced to Prasara yoga in early 2009. I had recently suffered a lower-back injury and was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease. Being relatively young at the time (30), I needed to find a way to rehabilitate my lower back. My doctor recommended I learn pilates and yoga - thanks to Wii Fit I was able to learn some basic yoga postures. I immediately fell in love with yoga! Once my back had gotten a bit stronger, I began searching for a more intense form of yoga, and I discovered Prasara.

Since then, my back has never felt better and I'm in the best shape of my life. I recommend Prasara Yoga to anyone who enjoys yoga, working out, or listens =)

A great program for learning Prasara yoga is the Prasara Primer. Click here to read my Prasara Primer review.
